The Tetley is one of the most famous landmarks of Leeds. It stands proud on the original Tetley’s brewery site that Joshua Tetley founded on Hunslet Road, Leeds in 1822.

Built in 1931, the grade 1 listed Art Deco building was state of the art for its time. Functioning as the headquarters to one of the most famous of British brewing dynasties, it has remained synonymous with the city since its first use. In 2013 it was transformed from Tetley’s offices into a pioneering centre for contemporary art, a platform to help communities and young people in Leeds find their creative voice. As the vibrant city of Leeds continues to evolve, the Tetley will once more form the centre of the new exciting sustainable neighbourhood, the Aire Park Development.

Many of the building’s original features have been kept, including its oak-panelled boardroom and portrait paintings of the Tetley family, with JT himself over the fireplace. The Tetley is also home to the brewery’s archive which spans almost 200 years. Some of the archive is on display in the restaurant, including pub signs, brewing equipment, fascinating vintage advertising and photographs – even commemorative beers brewed for royalty and special occasions.

Over 120,000 people each year visit the Tetley to discover, create, relax, learn and occasionally enjoy a pint of Tetley's. Like Leeds itself, there's always something new going on at The Tetley.
