WHAT MAKES TETLEY’S, TETLEY’S?

In a word, it’s our Yeast. It’s the same strain of yeast that Joshua Tetley used in some of his most famous beers. It’s been used through generations of brewing and yes, we still use it in our beers today. Continually (and carefully) cultivating this delicate and unique yeast that gives our beers their unique flavour.

Not one but two. Our yeast is a dual strain which means it contains two enzymes that work together in absolute harmony. No other brewers have our yeast, it’s unique to Tetley’s so don’t be fooled into thinking it’s commonly available.

Beautiful balance. One other key to our success is brewing beers that are beautifully balanced. We use quality ingredients throughout of brews, variety of 6 traditional hops sourced from British suppliers and a selection of malts.

QUALITY PAYS

Tetley’s was established in 1822, by an ambitious young man called Joshua Tetley. With his experience in the family malting business and the belief in its motto ‘Quality Pays’, Joshua Tetley took advantage of the lack of successful breweries in the North of England, compared to those in London. After nearly two centuries of perfecting the brewing process, the name Tetley’s is synonymous with a smooth, tasty pint created from a perfect combination of traditional and modern brewing techniques. Tetley’s range of quality ales is brewed using only the finest quality ingredients to the highest standards to ensure the perfect pint every time.

INSPIRATION TAKEN FROM 200 YEARS OF KNOWHOW

We’ve been making beer since 1822, and inspired generations of drinkers with our brews. We still use English hops and malts alongside our totally unique Tetley’s yeast to bring you beer with character, flavour and above all the best quality. But don’t take our word for it, we’ve got drinkers all over the world who enjoy our beers and have done so for nearly 200 years.

BREWING FOR PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS

Making quality beer isn’t just about ingredients. It’s also about the qualities and skills of the people who brew it. We’ve got Tetley’s brewers working in our team, that have been making quality beers for generations. And just like our founder always said, quality really does pay. We’re proper happy that you’ve stopped by and if, after you’ve had a look around you still want to know more about our beer, then send us a message using the contact section at the bottom of this page.
